A few weeks ago I was out clothes shopping with a friend. We wandered into Abercrombie because she was looking for a new sweater. Despite my hatred for the store (which has been on-going since high school) I went in and looked around. I actually found some things that I liked and despite them being “my size” (my shirt size is Large) they weren’t designed to truly fit someone “my size.” To even fit in one of their shirts I would have had to buy a XXL which they don’t make. I tweeted about how annoyed I was simply because a clothing store managed to make me feel bad about myself. This morning, this popped up on my news feed and I’m so angry about it, I needed to share. I want you all to know something- I shop at Kohl’s and Target, I love those stores (and they’re SO much cheaper!). You don’t need Abercrombie or H&M or Hollister to make you cool. You make yourself cool. I’m not going to sit here and ask you all to ban these stores- that’s not realistic- instead I’m gonna ask that you all PLEASE don’t think that you need expensive clothes to feel cool. Feeling cool comes from being yourself and always staying true to who YOU are.
